GST and its Council
GST stands for Goods and Services Tax. It is comprehensive, multi-stage, destination based indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India. It was introduced in 2016 but implemented on 1st July, 2017. The idea of GST in India was first proposed by the Kelkar Task Force on Indirect Taxes in 2000.
